It's Harvest Time in the Land of the Tu!

It's harvest time in the land of the Tu.
It's hard to believe that I took these photographs about twelve years ago when I traveled to Qinghai Province, China for the very first time.   My heart's desire was to travel to the land of the Tu in northwest China and meet them face to face.  I had no idea that it was harvest time when I arrived!

The area I traveled to was technically "closed" to foreigners.  However, my driver was bold enough to take me where very few, if any, foreigners had ever traveled.  Although my presence caused a bit of a stir, the Tu people were gracious enough to allow me to take their pictures while they were hard at work.  Men and women work right along side one another performing all the physical labor by hand.

There are approximately 240,000 ethnic Tu who live primarily in Qinghai Province, China. As a people, they have never heard the Name of Jesus and they know nothing of His love for them. Their belief system is a combination of animism, Taoism, and a form of Buddhism, and they live in constant fear of offending one of their gods.

This May, 2012, I will be traveling back to the land of the Tu. It is my hope to have the opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with some of the Tu I've met on past trips into the area. Please pray for open doors and open hearts among these precious people. The train trip from Beijing to Xining will take approximately 20+ hours. Once I arrive in Xining, I will need to locate a native Tu speaker, who also speaks Mandarin and/or English, and who is willing to travel with me and act as my interpreter among the Tu. Then, we will board a bus for another day's travel into the land of the Tu.

If you would like to participate in the harvest of souls among the Tu, please click on the link below and check out a short video I put together from previous trips. In addition, if you would like to contribute financially to this trip, you can do so at this website as well.

Jesus said, "Wake up and look around.  The fields are already ripe for harvest!"
